Unlocking Data Applications in Industry

Exploring the Power of Data: Envisioning Industrial Applications Workshop

In this immersive session, we will dive into the core data concepts, including data collection, analysis, and visualization.

It will help to understand how these concepts can transform raw data into actionable intelligence.

The final objective is to turn this newfound knowledge into concrete benefits for your Unit.

We will review your operations through this new lens envisioning potential specific data applications such as Real-Time Monitoring, Predictive Maintenance, Quality Control, Supply Chain Management or Safety and Risk Management.

Understand Data Concepts

The need of digital transformation isn’t new to manufacturers, machine builders or critical assets operators. In fact, it’s probably something you are thinking about for some time as part of your Industry 4.0 initiatives.

A huge part of that transformation involves maximizing the value of your data to predict future outcomes and, basing key process decisions on those predictions.

But to be able to go from this global notion to an effective deployment, the understanding of the main Data Concepts is key. What Data representativity means? Can supervised and unsupervised machine learning algorithms be used to address the same problem? Which kind of historical data is necessary to train a model? And by the way, what « historical data » and « training a model » means? Etc.

Don’t worry the objective is not to turn your industrial experts into Data Scientists!! In fact, creating this first level comprehension of Data Concepts helps at the time to envision relevant applications by the ones who are dealing with the operational problems on a daily basis.

Moreover it will create a common culture mitigating one of the most cause of failure in these projects; the mutual misunderstanding between Industrial Experts and Data Teams.

Explore Concrete Context Based Applications

Don’t worry the objective is not to turn your industrial experts into Data Scientists!! In fact, creating this first level comprehension of Data Concepts helps at the time to envision relevant applications by the ones who are dealing with the operational problems on a daily basis.

Moreover it will create a common culture mitigating one of the most cause of failure in these projects; the mutual misunderstanding between Industrial Experts and Data Teams.

In a nutshell, your main Key Results will be a list of first potential applications defined by participants leveraging their functional understanding of Data Centric projects and based in their context and challenges.

Who should join this 2 days Workshop?

It focus on a specific “Unit” (e.g. production or quality or maintenance, etc). Participants jobs cover the main activities of the Unit.

Taking the example of a “production line”, participants handle supply chain, production, quality and maintenance activities of the line.
A representant from the IT department is obviously welcomed, this reinforcing a common understanding of industrials operations.

This 2 days onsite Workshop is structured around sessions organized to let participants handle daily operations constrains and potential emergencies.

A Workshop designed to be "concrete"

The Workshop is divided in 9 sessions, each of them belonging to one of these 2 Categories:

  • « Presentation » introducing the core concepts
  • « Contextualization » applying this core concepts to the Unit and/or revisiting the Unit operations through these concepts layers

Each half day is a back and forth between Categories facilitating the understanding of the core concepts and allowing to quickly land them in the Unit context.

« Presentation » Category includes the following sessions:

  • Shopfloor Data (Sources, Types and format, Data Management, Data Characteristics)
  • Type of Data Based Applications and their area of impact
  • Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning algorithms (functional) presentation
  • Data Projects main phases and specificities (even more when Machine Learning models are applied)

« Contextualization » Category includes the following sessions:

  • Reviewing the Unit context adopting a “data view”
  • Current Data Usage(s) at the Unit level
  • Macro Review of the Unit Operations (current challenges, areas of improvement, etc)
  • Assessing the relevancy of a Data Approach (How data could help to solve totally or partially the challenges, which is the Data Readiness level for a named challenge)
  • Envisioning new approaches that a data driven operations could open
